Kuala Lumpur & Taman Negara, Malaysia

I confess we didn't do much sightseeing in KL.. we spent one day wandering round the city but apart from the Petronas Towers we didn't see anything that interesting. We did stay at the most amazing hostel though - Reggae Mansion. While we were there it was the owners 40th birthday so there was a huge party at the rooftop bar with free booze and food.

After a few fairly alcohol fuelled days in KL we headed for a bit of a detox in the Malaysian jungle, Taman Negara. We were feeling fairly fragile so decided to go with Han Travel and do an all inclusive tour which actually turned out to be great value for money. After paying for our park and camera licenses (a must do if you want to avoid prison!) we got a bus from Chinatown in KL to the Kuala Tembeling Jetty where it was a three hour boat ride to the little town of Kuala Tahan.

We spent two days in the jungle: trekking, walking the worlds longest canopy walkway, visiting the Orang Asli village where we learnt how to make fire and shoot blow darts, rapid shooting and eating some fairly incredible food at the Mama Chop floating restaurant. It was such an incredible experience, one that I would recommend to anyone whatever your fitness level.

All topped off with the best sunset I saw in South East Asia. x
